In order to be able to offer its customers the best possible tool for process optimization in the production and dispatch logistics sector, the BLS logistics control system is being continuously optimized and expanded as usual.
The company is currently working on a comprehensive new development of the logistics management system – the entire system, including all front-end modules, will be converted to HTML5. New module developments will also follow this concept.
BLS users therefore await important innovations in the coming year.
Client independent
Up to now, the client-side installation of the "Silverlight" plugin was necessary. Now the new BLS under HTML5 can be operated without any installation of software on the clients.
This is of relevance, as Silverlight has been denounced, and the plugin will no longer be supported by the web browsers.
All relevant browsers such as IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and more are supported directly after conversion to HTML 5.
Mobile optimized and scalable
The design of the new BLS scales to the screen sizes. This enables BLS to be displayed and used on mobile platforms – a feature which is important for logistics control systems, as mobile terminals are also increasingly integrated into process management. See example for mobile device integration.
Increased Usability
A clear, homogenous layout embedded in modern design provides a further optimized, fast overview.
Users benefit from numerous new features: All BLS modules, such as order management, material, disposition and many more can be displayed and edited on a page using multi-tab browsing. The data entry can be done even more quickly and clearly, reference data are directly selected and logon data stored in the browser.
More possibilities thanks to media data
The simple integration of images, graphics and videos into the new logistics control system BLS leads to new possibilities for the optimization of processes: media data, which can be attached to different data sets, can be found mainly in the area of documentation ("provability of events") and the plant safety.
Further numerous features
The close cooperation between Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H and its customers leads to important feedback. Within the framework of this ongoing dialogue, many ideas and proposals for system optimization were formulated. Numerous suggestions can now be collected in the course of the changeover to HTML5 and incorporated into the front end.
Changeover of existing BLS systems
The extensive development work is proceeding rapidly, so that a completion and the changeover / the update with existing BLS users in the course of 2018 can take place.
The largely unchanged data structure and the possibility of a parallel operation make an uncomplicated and secure upgrade possible.
Joachim Berthold concludes: "With this upgrade, we offer all users of the logistics control system BLS a future-proof technology and this with increased performance."
