Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H is responsible for the entire delivery automation technology implemented at Wien Energie, Kraftwerk Spittelau, encompassing both incoming and outgoing plants technology.

The construction work being carried out in the new customer service centre has caused immense restrictions on logistics processing.
An interim solution for the logistical processing of the incoming and outgoing waste transport of 260,000 tons of waste per year was developed and implemented by Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H.

New start-up of incoming/outgoing station

As the customer service centre reaches completion, the underlying logistics system can be rebuilt and restarted by Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H. This makes it possible for the weighbridges to be used again (dynamic weighing arrival without standstill).

All of this work has been carried out to ensure a modernisation of the plant:

  • Next-generation on-site barriers will be used to ensure higher user-friendliness and functionality now
  • Identification of vehicles will now take place using long-range readers
  • Conversion to digital video technology
  • Optimisation of connections for increased security and ease of maintenance, as well as optimisation of processes.

New access control system

As a direct result of the increased security standards and frequency of vehicles at the plant, Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H will implement a new access control system for foreign cars the entire plant.

In addition to the delivery vehicles, suppliers and visitors will now be recorded using automated number plate and picture recognition via digital video systems and special access software.

This ensures the highest-possible quality in potentially dangerous situations, such as an evacuation in the case of fire.

Former bridge weighing systems available – returning to operation from the interim solution

Following successful start-up of the incoming/outgoing plant, as well as testing of the weighbridges below the customer service centre (statically and dynamically), the interim solution will be deconstructed.

The weighbridges used since the end of 2011 will be available for use once more:

• 2 VTS weighbridges with digital measuring cells, 60to, 18x3m, 41cm(!)
• incl. complementary on-site control cabinets and software
