Efficient: control technology for the food industry

In the course of the general ERP conversion of a long-term customer from the food industry to SAP, we were able to successfully implement an accompanying, extensive control project:

Further parts of the reliable control system for food production have already come from Berthold.

As a result of the SAP implementation, the new hardware for visualization and control, the replacement of the PLC, software adaptations and a new interface to SAP with extensive detailed documentation were implemented.

The newly structured CPU now provides for further stability and therefore for higher security throughout the entire process sequence. The existing backup possibilities could also be massively improved by the centralization of the system, thus a possible failure time in the event of a fault is further reduced.

Saving resources: WTG wiping liquor preparation in banknote printing

The Water Treatment GmbH (WTG), located in Wr. Neustadt, is one of the world’s technology leaders. The young and successful engineering company develops and distributes filtration solutions for banknote printing companies worldwide. Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H has been supporting WTG since the very beginning in the efficient and economic realization by planning, implementation and the putting into service of the control technology.

The latest project – an ultrafiltration facility for resource-conserving wiping liquor preparation for a banknote printing plant in the European region – proves the innovative power of WTG: With the first-time use of the self-developed drying process for sludge thickening, WTG succeeded in a sustainable optimization in the processing procedure.

The sophisticated dewatering technology using a sludge dryer / heat exchanger combination contributes significantly to the careful use of partly cost-intensive chemical products. In addition to the environmental aspect of resource conservation, the WTG technology helps to save money on material and disposal costs.

We are pleased to be able to implement this innovative project as usual together with WTG. WTG and Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H unites the high standard in planning and execution, coupled with ongoing further developments – this ensures a successful future of this particular partnership.

Uncomplicated: Integration of additional locations in the logistics control system BLS, example w&p

The experienced technicians of Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H are once again able to prove just how fast and uncomplicated the integration of additional locations into the logistics management system BLS is:

The successful putting into service of BLS in the plants of Wietersdorfer & Peggauer (w&p) was recently reported, see also "State-of-the-art technology at w&p – switch to BLS". Due to the weighty arguments for self-service during the delivery and collection of building materials even at smaller locations, w&p promptly decided to integrate the location "w&p Baustoffe GmbH" in Klagenfurt / Austria.

The site has an existing bridge scale, which is integrated into the BLS system by Berthold using a new evaluation unit. A wall-mounted BLS control panel will allow uncomplicated, yet tamper-proof self-service by truck drivers. Because BLS is built as a web-based system, the operator station of the weighing machine can easily be changed to BLS.

The full integration of the location to the central logistics control system in the w&p headquarters requires only a change in the configuration and does not require any new or additional programming.

Due to the high flexibility of BLS, the costs for complete site integration can be kept low.

After the integration, which is pre-tested and scheduled in consultation with the customer, w&p can also count on the convenient, uniform handling and central processing of the logistics control system BLS at this location.
