The majority of the required biomass is sourced from the region and the resulting resources are supplied to the surrounding 40km area.

Self-service deliveries

Deliveries are managed independently thanks to the fully-automated Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H RBS logistics control system: the reliable processing of identification, weighing, sampling, heat value calculation and other extensive testing simplifies not only operation but also almost completely eradicates errors or manipulation.

As an holistic provider with extensive experience, Rudolf Berthold Ges.m.b.H assumed full responsibility for the entire control system:

  • Engineering
  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Weighing systems
  • Measurement devices
  • and Support

Project implemented in 2 days

RBS is a turn-key modular solution and is both quickly and easily implemented. The individual setup of the system was configured and tested on site. A VTS200 modular weighbridge concept by Mettler Toledo was used for the weighing system, which was constructed from 6m-long, powder-coated bridge modules.
With a height of 40 cm(!), this model is perfectly suited as an overground weighing system.

Thanks to the detailed planning and preparation of implementation and start-up, the system was able to be installed in a record time of 2 days:

  • Implementation of plateau plating and weighing system
  • Delivery and installation of gates
  • Installation and cabling of control centre
  • Installation and adjustment of measuring devices
  • Calibration of the entire system
  • System start-up, including camera connection, induction loops and traffic lights
  • Test
  • Presentation and successful handover

A successful start to the heating season

The calibrated, turn-key logistics control system was successfully handed over to the operators on 26th September.
At the beginning of October, Bioenergie Steyr was able to implement start-up as planned and successfully begin the 2012/13 heating season.

RBS will meet your company’s requirements – both today and in the future
Thanks to the modular construction design of the RBS system, it is possible to adapt to your current plant configuration without any necessary software changes.

Additional online and offline interfaces guarantee consistent, automated data transmission, as well as data exchange with control systems. This concept therefore enables, for example, prompt notifications and specific communications.

About Bioenerigie Steyr GmbH

Energie AG Oberösterreich Wärme GmbH and Lower Austria EVN Wärme GmbH are the driving forces behind this project and are equally involved in both companies.
The biomass power plant which supplies thermal energy is located on the border between Upper and Lower Austria in the municipalities of Behamberg/Ramingdorf, which are also the recipients of the district heating.
Wood chips from the thinning of local forests are used as a raw material. The CO2 savings potential is approximately 43,000 tonnes per year. District heating is supplied via an approximately 11 km-long network.
